How to write your profile: a short introduction, About me and interests
A good profile description does not have to be long. It should quickly explain who you are, what makes your profile personal and where visitors can find more information. On NIGHTY, it helps to distinguish between a short introduction, the more detailed About me section and interests. Each has a different purpose.
A short introduction: two sentences that make sense on their own
The introduction appears near the top of your profile, so include the essentials. Start with a specific introduction and add one quality or detail that describes you. Do not repeat every completed field or try to fit your whole life story into a single sentence.
Instead of a generic “Welcome to my profile, I am the best”, you might write: “I am sociable and enjoy culture and relaxed conversations. My profile contains current information and a little about what I enjoy.” This is an example of style, not a text to copy automatically. Adapt it to yourself and include only accurate information.
About me: expand on what did not fit in the introduction
A longer description can show your personality and how you communicate. Divide it into two or three short paragraphs. The first introduces you, the second describes your interests and the third can explain what visitors will find on your profile. Do not copy the introduction unchanged: visitors would read the same thing twice.
Specific wording is often clearer than a string of general adjectives. “In my free time, I enjoy photographing the city and going to concerts” says more than “I am interesting and have many hobbies”. You do not need to disclose your employer, exact address or personal daily routine.
Interests are different from services
Interests describe you: books, travel, music, photography or sport, for example. Offered services belong in a separate part of the profile. Keeping these groups apart makes it easier to distinguish a personal introduction from an offer.
Choose a few interests you genuinely enjoy. There is no need to select every option. Add a specific detail about two or three of them in About me, such as a favourite kind of book or landscape photography. The list will then feel more personal than randomly checked boxes.
What to avoid when writing
- Repeating the same words: mentioning a city or category several times does not replace a useful description.
- Unsupported promises: use claims such as “the best” or “fully verified” only when you have an appropriate basis for them.
- Copying other profiles: a short description in your own words is better than a long one that does not describe you.
- Conflicting details: the description, location, availability and other information should tell the same story.
Check before publishing
Read the text aloud and remove sentences that add nothing new. Then save the profile and open its public view. Check the introduction, About me, interests and readability on a phone. Saving changes and being publicly visible are different things: check the profile status as well.
