Stories and profile galleries: what is the difference?

Published:

A photo gallery presents a profile over a longer period, while Stories suit a short update or snapshot. They can complement each other, but should not replace the profile's basic information. Visitors should find important details even if they never open a Story.

What belongs in a photo gallery

Choose photographs that will still represent the profile well over time. A personal profile might use current portraits and other representative images; a business can show its setting. The gallery should not be a dumping ground for every available file.

A good selection answers a simple question: what extra information does this image give the visitor? If several photos show almost the same scene, choose the best one. When your appearance or surroundings change, update the gallery too, so it does not present the past as the current situation.

What belongs in Stories

A Story can share a brief greeting, a new detail of your surroundings or a current behind-the-scenes moment. Choose one idea per post. Complex text and several different messages in a short video are difficult to read on a phone.

Stories on NIGHTY have no automatic expiry. One active Story remains until you remove or replace it; new media still require the usual approval. The newest Stories appear first in the overview. After approval, check the public profile and remove or replace outdated content yourself.

Update availability and important details in the profile too

A Story does not replace the availability, opening hours or contact fields. When an important detail changes, update the relevant part of the profile. Mentioning it only in a video may not be enough: someone may read only the basic information or visit after the Story has been removed or replaced.

Likewise, do not put the only version of important terms in a video. The profile should remain understandable without it. Treat Stories as an extra that adds timeliness and personality.

A simple content plan without unnecessary repetition

  • Main photo: a quick, representative introduction in a thumbnail.
  • Gallery: several different photographs suitable for longer use.
  • Story: a short message that stays until you remove or replace it.
  • Profile text and details: information that should remain available independently of Stories.

You do not need to publish new content every day. A meaningful update is better than repeating the same post just to keep the profile active. If you have no current message, focus on accurate basic details and a good gallery.

How to check the result

After uploading, open the public profile, play the Story and check that the expected content appears. Check the sound, image orientation and readability of any text. If you view the profile from another part of the website, try opening Stories there too. A successful upload alone does not verify the whole visitor experience.

Manage content through My profile. Follow the content rules before publishing. If a Story does not load or a link fails, contact NIGHTY support with the page address and a brief description of the problem, not your account password.
